Once you decide to work with us, we'll start with an initial telephone consultation to understand the scope of your collection. For in-home consignment, we ask you to email us some pictures of the items you're interested in selling. Once approved, We'll help you curate which items to feature in the auction. Then, one the day of the auction we'll set up our equipment at your location. During the live stream on Whatnot, we'll showcase each item, describe its features and history, and manage the bidding. After the auction, we handle invoicing buyers, packing the sold items, and arranging for shipping. Finally, you'll receive your 60% of the sales (minus fees and shipping). We promote our live auctions through our Whatnot profile, and potentially other social media channels. We aim to create engaging and entertaining shows that keep viewers coming back. Our audience typically consists of vintage enthusiasts, collectors, and people looking for unique and sustainable items. We're building a community that appreciates the stories behind vintage pieces.
Pricing vintage items can vary greatly. We'll work with you to research comparable items and suggest reasonable starting bids that encourage engagement while reflecting the value of your pieces. Ultimately, the final selling price is determined by the bidders during the live auction. We aim to create a competitive bidding environment to maximize your returns.
For in-home consignment, the initial setup day will require your availability. During the live auction, you're welcome to be involved, but it's not required. After the auction, your involvement is minimal, as we handle the packing and shipping. For store partnerships, the time commitment will depend on how we coordinate the item selection and presentation. We strive to make the process as hands-off as possible for you.
No, although we have experience with a range of vintage items, including higher-value pieces. We understand the importance of presenting these items appropriately to attract serious buyers. The whatnot platform is for vintage enthusiasts. For more Valuable items we recommend using a luxury auction house.
We understand your concern. We are professionals and will be respectful of your home. We can discuss the setup and the number of people who will be present. Our focus is on the auction itself, and we aim to be as unobtrusive as possible. We can also set up a show in a garage or backyard patio.
We take great care in packaging items securely. However, if damage occurs during shipping, it would typically be handled through Whatnot's policies and the shipping carrier's procedures. We can guide you through that process if it happens.
We can discuss the possibility of setting reserve prices on specific items if you have a minimum price you're willing to accept. However, it's worth noting that reserves can sometimes make it harder to generate initial bidding momentum. We can advise you on the best approach for your items.
If an item doesn't sell during the live auction, we can discuss a few options: relisting it in a future auction with a potentially adjusted starting price, or returning the item to you. We'll work with you to find the best solution.
While we appreciate items being presentable, you don't need to go to extreme measures. We can lightly clean items as needed for the live stream. However, if you have items that would benefit from cleaning or minor repairs, doing so beforehand can sometimes increase their appeal. We can discuss this on a case-by-case basis.
